April 21-22: EARTH DAY Tribute to Workers: Echoing events that were occurring all around the state, our Olympic Chapter members ponyed up to contribute their efforts for Earth Day. (Actually Earth Days.) On Saturday morning several members showed up at the Green Mountain Horse Camp for the clean-up party. Manned with chainsaws and strong backs, piles of branches and downed logs were removed and burned around the campsites - clearing the area for all campers. The most entertaining part of the event was the demise of the old outhouse carcass that has been residing at the start of the Bomb Trail. Also, using his ingenuity, Jim Davis brought in his generator and saber saw to cut-up and remove the section of culvert that had been left next to the trail. It was hauled off the mountain in parts to the DNR dumpsite at Oak Patch Lake. After enjoying a great lunch, some members saddled up and headed down the trail to clean up trash left there. Sunday, at Oak Patch Lake, lunch was provided and served to the groups who were doing the clean-up of the Camp Spillman-Goat Ranch Road areas. The lunch was also accompanied by a raffle of items from DNR. All the attendees were thankful for the efforts of our Chapter again this year. Thanks to all of our members who dedicated their time and energy to making these events successful. Julianne X. Rice, Treasurer.

April 7th Work Party! Jim and Elaine Davis sent the following pictures of this hard working party! Al and Joan Whitworth, and Vince Romo provided horses for moving the rock. Gail Rase provided lunch, in addition to helping on the trail. The rest of the workers were Jim Murphy, Harold Wiese, Pat Wisdom, George Yeager, and Jim. They re-routed part of the trail that had washed out, and installed a culver to get over the water.

New Year's Day 2007 Ride & Breakfast: Thanks to the Whitworth family, we had another wonderful New Year Breakfast on Green Mountain! In addition to the Whitworth's, cooks and helpers on hand included Ollie Call and granddaughter, Callie Jones, Jim Murphy, Dave Rase, Kris Cullefer and Janet Ahrens. The weather was 'fair' and didn't deter the horseback riders, bicycle riders, or hikers. The trail heads were filled to capacity and over 80 people were served. (Thanks to Jim and Elaine Davis for the article and pics!-K)
