July 28 - Julianne just sent the following pretty picture taken on Green Mountain, July 20th.
L-to-R: Pat Wisdom, A.J. Foote, and Julianne!

June/July - Julianne Rice sent the following pictures and writes: "The first one is from the WSU Ride for Research, June 21st. There were several members from the Olympic Chapter there, we camped for the weekend. The weather was wonderful and the trails were great (except for a few muddy spots)"
This second one is of my mare by American Commander (owned by Jim Davis) out of Diamonds Navajo (owned by Brenda Armstrong) being trained by Harold Jones. This shows what beneficial contacts that come from being a member of this club!
(Thanks for sharing, Julianne - k)

(July) - Gail Rase just sent these pictures in from the Wenas campover and the Green Mountain Work Party. She also sent a really nice picture of Gerry for the "Officer's Page"!

(Thanks, Gail! - k)

May 17-18 - Elaine's Rhody Ride - Jim Davis says " We didn't get many good pictures, and the - Jim Rhododendrons were just barely blooming due to the cold spring. The weather was great for the ride however, and we had a number of campers for the weekend as well as many day riders on Saturday, and a few on Sunday."

May 10 - Green Mountain Horse Camp Work Party - Betsy James sent the following photos and said, "We had a great turn out and loads of work was done. Mike Dean from the West Sound Chapter brought his tractor and made the day!! I would love to put an invitation out to horse people to come and camp at DNRs Green Mountain Horse Camp this summer. Opening weekend is May 24 & 25. Then the camp is open every weekend after that. Gates are open 9 AM Saturday and Sunday then are closed each evening at 6 PM. There are 18 horse corrals and 16 camp sites. Stock water available.
(Thanks for the pictures, Betsy! That shows a lot of hard work! -k)

March 28-30 - Pot Holes State Park Endurance Ride - Stephanie Griffith and friend, Phyllis, attended this event and said, "the riding was great over at the pot holes, and camping is good. It is a dry camp as far as people are concerned, but there are places to camp next to lakes. This is an open range area so there are cattle every where, but it is very nice place and me and Phyllis had a great time. I kept the directions if anyone wants to go over and camp there."

February 22 - New Year's Day Breakfast Ride - Stephanie just sent these pictures of their ride from Lake Tahuya to the NYD Breakfast. They had to clear some trail but got there in time to still get some food!

(Thanks for sharing Steph! - k)

January 30 - Legislative Day at Olympia - Jerry Seitz, Janet & Hank Ahrens, Gail Rase, and Gerry Magnuson attended this WTA/BCHW Legislative Day, representing Districts 23, 24 and 35. Our Prez Gerry wrote: "Myself along with three others (WTA members) were able to meet with all three of our legislatures from the 24 district. The results seemed to be positive. All three legislators agreed to support the "Weed free forage" issue. They agreed with the DNR funding but it did seem they were reluctant to say it had a chance of passing in this years legislature. Other things were also discussed and as I left each representative, it was my feeling that they listened, and responded well to the issues. At no time did I feel insignificant with them. It was a day well spent. Gerry Magnuson President Olympic Chapter (Gail forwarded two pictures but they didn't turn out well-k)

January 1, 2008 - Green Mountain Breakfast and Ride! Jim Davis writes: following are some pictures Elaine took at the New Year Breakfast. The Whitworths once again did a wonderful job with help from many others. Getting the camp and breakfast up there in the snow was quite a task. The event was well attended by riders, hikers, and a few bicyclists. All the help getting the trails cleared and repaired for use was appreciated so the event could be held.

November 10 - Al Whitworth's GUIDE trips - (late October) Al & Joan's daughter and grandaughter, Suzie & Katie, supplied these beautiful pictures from a couple of Al's 'guide' trips.

Most of Al's guide trips begin at the camp at Wolf Creek Trailhead (Lake Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness)

Sometimes grand daughter Katie leads the WHOLE group!

The animals grazing back in the camp's corrals, and Suzie & Katie get their picture taken at Heart's Pass, the highest PUBLIC road in Washington State!

Back at camp, Katie does some hard chores, then sits down for a sandwich -but Al complains about the lack of mayonnaise!
(THANKS, Suzie and Katie, for your company AND sharing these pictures! - Kay)

October 27 - Halloweenie Ride! The ENTIRE Green Mountain Horse Camp area was overflowing before 9 a.m. All camping spots had been filled Friday night, undoubtedly because of the beautiful weather! Jim and Elaine Davis had spent a lot of time riding the mountain the week before this ride, finding and marking trails that were still 'open' due to the extensive logging at this time of year.

Duke (& friend)! The guy that organized this ride.

Best horse costume..(hope she got a PRIZE!)
Following are some pictures I took early Saturday morning - Kay)
